One of the biggest challenges of any society is the proper management and conservation of water resources. Do not forget that water is a limited resource and essential to the development of human life and, at present, much of the world's population lives in regions with severe water shortages. The problem of water shortage is getting worse by climate change, especially in arid regions such as the Mediterranean, where the growing accumulation of population coupled with low rainfall and irregularly distributed in time, is causing the depletion or hard to reverse the deterioration of water resources. Given this situation, it is essential to efficient management of water resources, based on scientific and technical criteria, yielding an adequate supply of both quantity and quality and protect existing water resources.
