WISE Geographical Information Systems workshop
WISE Geographical Information Systems workshop
EEA
Tue, 16/11/2010 / Wed, 17/11/2010
The WISE Technical Group announced the next WISE GIS workshop to take place 16-17 November 2010 at the EEA.
An initial training session will be organised on the morning of 16 November to provide an introduction to the current systems for reporting via Reportnet and data services available at the EEA web-site. This is for those, who would like a little brush-up in advance of the workshop. Those already familiar with the systems may prefer to join at 11:00 a.m. for the workshop programme.
Aims of the workshop:
In continuation of previous WISE GIS workshops, this 2010 workshop will include sessions on: WFD Art. 13 submissions, ways of modernising reporting, GIS layers, near-real-time data flows, and distributed services.
The workshop style and aim will remain the same:
* to bring together the community of GIS specialists involved with the reporting to EU water directives and EEA priority data flows
* to present and discuss emerging issues of general interest
* hopefully, to agree on directions and recommendations, which may be addressed to the WISE Technical Group (TG)
Presentations will be given by Group-of-Four institutions (DG ENV. JRC, ESTAT, EEA) as well as by Member State representatives and other GIS specialists.
Participation is free of charge and based on participant’s own coverage of costs for travel and accommodation. An audience of about 60 people is foreseen, enabling a good forum for discussions of widespread relevance.
