Land degradation, particularly desertification and deforestation, causes high population mobility, disturbs economic development prospects, aggravates the instability and threatens the lives and livelihoods of people, especially the poorest. Desertification affects more than one hundred countries, directly affecting the lives of over one billion people.
After the success of ten international symposia on the environment problematic organized by AMCE in Morocco and other countries, AMCE organizes in collaboration with the Province of Errachidia, the Faculté Polydisciplinaire d’Errachidia, the Association Oasis Ferkla pour l’Environnement et le Patrimoine (AOFEP), the Association Marocaine (Nom Exacte de Votre Association) and the Association du Développement Durable de Médenine – Tunisie, an International Symposium on Desertification on October,12 th, 13 th and 14th 2010 in Errachidia in southern Morocco.
This symposium will discuss recent advances related to desertification. It will provide a unique opportunity for experts, engineers, industrials, researchers, government authorities and competent in several countries to discuss the latest developments in this area, to meet and to share their experiences both in fundamental and applied issues.
During three days, the city of Errachidia in the south-eastern of Morocco, host of industrial and academic researchers from twenty countries, interested in the problem of desertification, as well as representatives of local communities and Nongovernmental organization.
The conference program is organized in multiple sessions presenting the research progress on these matters and the state of the art in research on desertification. The conference will create science-based opportunities for meeting and collaboration between industry and academic centers.
