The conference is the sixth event in a series of IWA water loss reduction specialty conferences. The fifth event was in Cape Town, South Africa in May 2009 where more than 140 technical papers were presented to 450 participants from 43 countries.

Water Loss 2010 is being brought to São Paulo in order to address the complexity of assessing and reducing water loss in large urban centers that suffer from water scarcity and to improve the IWA relationship with Brazilian and Latin American Companies operating in the Water Sector.
