The objective of this conference is to connect government agencies, relief organizations, and the corporate world in order to better mitigate the human suffering caused by disasters. It is a follow up to the World Conference on Disaster Reduction conference held in Kobe, Japan (January 2005), where the need to involve all stakeholders in the disaster mitigation process was identified and enforced. This conference aims to identify sectors' strengths and highlight the areas where they can make a difference.
