This conference will provide an opportunity for specialists from around the world to exchange research results and experiences in drylands development desertification/land degradation control and while promoting international cooperation. It will also identify challenges that may be faced by the research community in dealing with the problems of drylands development.
Some of the subjects to be addressed include the following:
• soil and water conservation and degradation
• biodiversity conservation and utilization
• stress physiology: drought, heat, cold and salinity
• renewable energy
• indigenous/traditional knowledge and heritage
• sustainable development of oases
• desert communities and socio-economic studies
• application of new technologies and technology transfer.
