This four-day conference will bring together water managers, dam operators, scientists and livelihoods specialists to share knowledge and experience of planning and managing dam operation and in particular the use of decision support systems. The objectives of this conference will include:
• discussion of past and current practice in decision-making for dam release operations
• decision support systems and the identification of those that can be used to address upstream and downstream livelihood issues associated with dams
• discussion of the use of decision support systems to optimize livelihood benefits, safeguard health, and protect the environment
