IMPACT Project Workshop (Investigation of Extreme Flood Processes and Uncertainty)
IMPACT Project Workshop (Investigation of Extreme Flood Processes and Uncertainty)
Wed, 03/11/2004 / Fri, 05/11/2004
he IMPACT project addresses the assessment and reduction of risks from extreme flooding caused by natural events or the failure of dams and defence structures. In this context, research work includes the assessment of breach formation, flood propagation, sediment movement, modelling uncertainty and geophysical investigation of embankment integrity.
This 4th and final project workshop has two objectives, namely:
1. Presentation, review and discussion of the Flood Propagation research work package (which includes case study application and assessment of modelling uncertainty)
2. An overview of the entire IMPACT Project research work programme, with presentations, discussion, and conclusions and recommendations for all areas of research
To accommodate these objectives, the workshop programme has been developed in a modular fashion with the Flood Propagation research work scheduled for Wednesday 3rd November, the project overview on Thursday 4th November and case study applications and conclusions on the morning of Friday 5th November.
The workshop will be held at the University of Zaragoza in Zaragoza, Spain on 3-5 November 2004.
As this is the final project workshop, timed towards the end of this research project, the meeting will provide a venue to present a complete overview of the work including core findings and conclusions from each of the work areas. The workshop will be attended by all of the IMPACT Project Partners. Anyone interested in modelling, planning and managing extreme flood events / dam safety is also invited to attend. The event should be of interest to both researchers and industry practitioners alike.
