Bathing Water Quality Mapped
Tue, 01/07/2008
The Belgian company GIM now for the third consequent year has mapped the bathing water quality throughout Europe. Everybody can select the ideal swimming spot location in a glance. The choice has been justified by the management structure of GIM and the pro-active way of meeting problems.
The map is based on the 76/160/EEC guideline, since 2006 even reinforced with more stringent requirements and an active management by the member states. Every year, GIM collects the data of 27 states and analyses them. They are visualised in a map that everybody can consult. The data of course are measured the year before but it is considered as a reliable source that make countries decide to close beaches down if the pollution is too high.
