World Water Day 2005. Water for Life

Tue, 22/03/2005

The World Water Crisis is serious and widespread, but there is hope. All over the world, people are working to resolve this crisis, and prevent the death and suffering of millions of children and their families. Get involved in World Water Day 2005 - March 22nd - and become part of the solution!
World Water Day was established in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly.

The United Nations General Assembly designated 22 March of each year as the World Day for Water by resolution. This world day for water was to be observed starting in 1993, reflecting the recommendations of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development.

Countries were invited to recognize World Water Day through public awareness activities, including documentaries, conferences, and seminars.

In 2005, Ethos International, working together with premier national and international clean water organizations, including CARE, Global Water, Global Green USA, Millenium Water Alliance, WaterAid, Waterlines, Water Partners International, has created an event for World Water Day 2005 in the US, taking place March 22nd at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

On World Water Day 2005, these partners for clean water will issue a challenge to all sectors of American life -individuals, corporations, philanthropic foundations, and government -- to "take the pledge" to address the world water crisis through education and action.

Focusing Americans on this crisis is a long-term project. World Water Day is our focus, but we will continue working to raise public attention to this issue for the other 364 days of the year as well
