[Wetlands and climate change]

This discussion paper examines the scientific and institutional linkages between climate change and the conservation and wise use of wetlands. Following the introduction, the second section of the paper reviews the state of knowledge concerning the impact of climate change on wetlands including freshwater resources, coral reefs, and other coastal and marine wetlands. These impacts include sea-level rise, coral bleaching, hydrological effects, changes in water temperature, and alterations in water availability and quality.
