The aim of this report is, first to briefly analyze the paradigms and policies of valuation in its different functions, second, to review some policy proposals, and projects pilots around the valuation of the water, specifically the payment by environmental services due to the conservation of the water in some regions of the Andean countries. Thirdly, it is tried to complement this dominantly functional vision of the water and the ecosystems, with the different social and cultural valuations from the plurality of existing water rights in the countries of the Andean region.
