In the last 30 years, the population of the border region of Mexico-Estados has been increased drastically. The development of the infrastructure, nevertheless, has not followed the same rate. The lack of treatment of municipal waters and the lack of controlled practices of cleaning in the region of the border have been in the sprouting of diseases propagated by the water, as well as adverse ecological impacts, that the experts fear will continue getting worse.
