Territorial cohesion and water management: a spatial perspective

[Territorial cohesion and water management: a spatial perspective]

The European Environment Agency (European Environment Agency, EEA in its acronym in English) has published the report "Territorial cohesion and water management in Europe: the spatial perspective", a report that addresses the basic fact that watersheds and administrative regions different often have different limits, resulting in a mismatch between land use and water management. The centerpiece of the legislation of EU waters, the Water Framework Directive, which is conducted through river basin management plans, take this element into account. However, watershed management should be integrated more closely with regional planning, the report said. This would bring a strategic approach to planning, highlighting the decisions that affect water resources.
