Latest report on the implementation of the European directive on the treatment of urban waste water for the period 2007/2008, indicates that it is progressing well, but still can improve compliance rates for the collection and treatment. The report reveals that the older member states of the EU (EU-15) have maintained good standards of wastewater treatment and improved water treatment sensitive, whereas the new Member States (EU-12) have improved the overall collection and processing.
