A group of professionals dedicated to the hydrogeological investigation and groundwater uptake, promoted the creation of an annual prize in memory of Carlos Ruiz Celaá, as permanent public recognition of his outstanding merits in the field of groundwater. At the same time asked the Superior Council of Colleges of Mining Engineers, which was the repository of the heritage foundation and promoted successive calls of the prize.
