AM3.2 Water Governance in the Americas: How Does it Contribute to Achieving Better Financial, Environmental and Social Sustainability Goals

This session will provide the opportunity to discuss the challenges that decision-makers, water users and representatives of civil society in the Americas are overcoming to build sustainable and integrated water management systems in their own countries. It will show how these stakeholders are contributing to create effective mechanisms towards good governance and IWRM. It will bring together representatives from the various sectors involved to show how capacity- building, institutional strengthening, financial instruments and concerted approach to decision-making help reach financial, environmental and social sustainability at the basin level. Finally, it will present existing and innovative solutions that help achieve these goals.
