The Urban Flood Prevention and Drainage Project, Phase 1, will increase the City of Buenos Aires' resilience to flooding, through the protection of its critical infrastructure, and the introduction of a risk management approach to the Government investment program. The project would focus on the issue of risk identification and reduction, through prevention, mitigation, education, and training. To this end, the three project components are as follows. Component 1 - Risk Management Scheme - will finance the assistance provision to the city government, towards the promotion of a risk management approach in dealing with floods, which includes prevention, mitigation and rapid response to emergency. Component 2 - Development of Key Defense Facilities - will finance works, including the construction of two collection tunnels of additional secondary connections, to improve the functioning of the existing drainage system. Component 3 - Project Implementation and Auditing - will support project activities, including project management and auditing.
